Adult and Professional

Adult Workshop Program

We run adult workshops once a month on a Saturday afternoon in our eco-art workshop room in Woolloongabba. Designed for a variety of skill levels these workshops provide artists, designers, craft workers and hobbyists an insight into sustainable, creative practices. With a range of both themed and open workshops, participants are invited to get creative with salvaged, reclaimed and discarded materials.

Professional Development Workshops

Sustainability in Early Learning

We run Professional Development workshops for teachers, carers and educators, to inspire and inform the use of salvaged materials to create eco-artworks with children in their care.

The workshop includes an introduction to what we do at Reverse Garbage Queensland, the difference between recycling and re-using and how we can reduce our demand and consumption of new materials and virgin resources.

Our workshop facilitator will show creative and practical examples, demonstrate techniques and processes for using salvaged materials and encourage exploration of alternative construction methods.  Participants will be hands on, making their own creations using the ideas and techniques discussed. Our workshop facilitator will be on hand to assist with problem solving, creative advice and encouragement.

These workshops empower participants to feel confident in their own creative abilities and to embrace their inner child in a spirit of play and experimentation. Being more sustainable is not hard work or a chore, it can be super fun and very accessible!  as well as your ability to educate and engage others.

Our workshop facilitator will demonstrate the creative potential of "waste" to shift participants' perspective on what we consider to be valuable and what we deem to be “rubbish”. This can be a transformative process as it begins with "eco-art" and grows to become a less wasteful way of operating in all aspects of work life.

Workshop duration is 1.5 - 2hrs and can be arranged to be conducted after hours. We can run a workshop for a maximum of 30 people per facilitator at your location  and bring all of the materials and tools to you. We can also host a workshop for 15 - 20 participants in our inspiring eco-art workshop room in Woolloongabba.

Team Building

Creating together is a powerful excercise that requires trust, communication, compromise and co-operation. Our workshops are a perfect way to allow for a "fun part" during a day of training and can also be used as a "thinking outside of the box" excercise. We assist staff to see the many creative possibilities and hidden potential of salvaged materials, manipulate them to achieve specific outcomes as well as play and experiment to "see what happens!"

Making time to explore, investigate and creatively "play" in a professional setting is not only fun, but also improves creativity and builds rapport  amongst participants by developing interpersonal relations and social interactions.
